Some movie buffs say that Hrithik hiked up his fee and apparently, charged a hefty price of Rs 60 crore from YRF for doing Thug. He was also adamant on a flat-fee policy instead of the usual profit-sharing policy that other biggies follow. This meant that he would walk away with his prefixed fees, irrespective of how the film fares at the ticket windows. The cache here is that Thug, being an adventure saga is already too high-budget; Hrithik’s fees would further escalate the budget. Hence, Aditya Chopra decided to go ahead with Aamir, since he follows a profit-sharing policy.

Another reliable source states that Hrithik has just signed an exclusive 550-crore deal with Star TV for the satellite and distribution rights of all his films that will be out in 2017. Now, YRF already has a deal with Sony TV for the exclusive telecast rights of all the films that is produced under the banner. In the case of Salman Khan’s Sultan, an exception was made because Salman wanted Star TV to premiere the film. But in this case, Chopra is demanding an amount from Hrithik in order to bend his contract with Sony.

A source close to the actor said that he feels wronged with this act of differentiation. Hence, when he opted out, Aamir was brought in because he does not have any partnership with a TV network.
