Right since the time Aankhen 2 was announced, its makers have been in trouble. The movie, which is the sequel of the 2002 original thriller, will be starring Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, and Arshad Warsi in lead roles. But apparently, a production house has slapped a case against Gaurang Doshi and claims that they have the rights of the sequel of Aankhen.
Rajturu Studios Versus Gaurang Doshi
Reports say that legal notices have also been sent to director Anees Bazmee, Amitabh aankBachchan, and Anil Kapoor. The opposition here is Rajturu Studios, who claim to hold rights of the sequel. Apparently, as per sources, Rajturu Studios had bought the remake rights of Aankhen in 2013 from Gaurang Doshi, since he had produced the original flick.
They had plans to bring Vipul Shah on board as the director, since he had directed the earlier film too. But since Shah was busy with other projects, they jointly decided to put the film on hold. In fact, in 2015, the script had also been finalized. But then suddenly, this year, the production house learnt that Doshi had started casting for his own version of Aankhen. Seeing this, Rajeev Rajturu, owner of Rajturu Studios headed to court.
Will Aankhen 2 Be Made?
When questioned by the court, Doshi maintained that he had nothing to do with Aankhen 2. However, just a few days later, he announced the film by organizing a gala event. The court then ordered to stop all promotions for the film but Gaurang kept releasing new posters and giving interviews. Hence, he has been found guilty for misleading and disobeying the orders of the court.
In fact, Gaurang Doshi changed 4 lawyers in a month. The next hearing is scheduled for September 14 and if work on the sequel is not stopped, an arrest warrant will be issued in the name of Doshi. However, when Gaurang was contacted, he said that he had purchased all the legal rights of the film.
