On the occasion of World Tiger Day, actress Dia Mirza released her directorial debut based on public service and tiger conservation. The movie, titled Kids For Tigers, brings together a bunch of 20 adorable children talking about the need to save tigers, who are sadly on the brink of extinction. The short film is written by Cara Tejpal and Sahil Sangha, shot by ace photographer Rohan Shrestha and produced under the banner of Born Free Entertainment, which is helmed by Dia and her husband Sahil.
Dia Mirza may been away from mainstream cinema for long but has been quite active in social work, especially for causes related to nature. The actress says that the entire experience of shooting with the younger generation has been enlightening for her. She hopes that the innocent voice of children will be strong enough for the nation to realise that we are affecting ourselves by harming tigers and their natural habitats.
An interesting fact about Dia’s noble effort is that she is now looking forward to direct more films. She says that the experience has been a learning process for her and she would not mind directing an entire film in the near future. The actress had already stepped into the shoes of the producer with movies like Love Breakups Zindagi and Bobby Jasoos.
The endearing film that has been released on the social platform YouTube is the acting debut of Emraan Hashmi’s son Ayaan Hashmi and Zayed Khan’s children, Aariz and Zidaan. A proud father, Emraan took to Twitter to announce his son’s first tryst before the camera, at the mere age of 6. Coincidentally, Emraan too had made his acting debut when he was just 6 years old!
According to sources, it was environmentalist and Sanctuary Asia head, Bittu Sahgal who urged Dia to spearhead such an important campaign. Well, Dia’s small but significant step makes us wish that she decides to direct more films soon!
