It looks like piracy is looming large over Bollywood this time. After a series of top movies being victims to unaccounted internet leaks, now the John Abraham, Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer Dishoom is in danger, too. The action-packed movie, directed by Rohit Dhawan, is set for a worldwide release on the 29th of July. However, reports suggest that a pirate torrent site has apparently put up an advertisement that Dishoom will be shown soon!
It all began with the blockbuster Marathi movie, Sairat. Though it did not affect the collections of the movie largely, Anurag Kashyap’s Udta Punjab had to miss out on a lot because of a censor copy leak that occurred two days prior to the release of the film. Then Salman Khan’s Sultan had to go through the same, through it did not make a difference to Bhai’s stardom. Unfortunately, Great Grand Masti got leaked 17 days before its release, resulting in a preponement in the date and poor box office collections. Even Rajinikanth’s Kabali was facing trouble but now it looks like Dishoom may have to pay the price of piracy.
The Film & Television Producer’s Guild of India received the threat regarding the upcoming movie. Due to the series of unfortunate incidents, Mukesh Bhatt, the President of the Guild, has stated that an emergency meeting will be held to discuss what is to be done. This time the producers are not willing to take a risk regarding such threats. The Central Board of Film Certification has also decided to look into this matter. According to sources, they will be receiving a DVD of the movie, immediately after the release. Mukesh Bhatt also stated that he is utterly thankful to the CBFC to understand the gravity of the situation and coming to the Guild’s help.
Only when the entire movie fraternity stands up in unison, can we look forward to defeating piracy!
