A few days ago, reports were abuzz that Vicky would be playing an important character in ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-awaited period film, Padmavati. After the magnanimous success of Bajirao Mastani, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was quick to announce his next epic romance, Padmavati. Just like his previous two super hit films, he has signed his favourite couple, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone for his upcoming venture too. The story talks about a king, Alaudin Khalji, who was apparently obsessed over a queen named Padmavati. While Singh and Padukone would play the characters of Khalji and Padmavati respectively, Bhansali was on the search for a suitable actor to enact the character of Padmavati’s husband. After considering a few choices, he decided to cast newbie Vicky Kaushal to play Deepika’s husband.

Unfortunately, Vicky will no longer be a part of the movie and there are a number of contrasting speculations doing the rounds of media. Some reports say that Vicky opted out of the film because he felt that his role was not pivotal enough, when compared to the meatier roles of Ranveer and Deepika. However, other reports state that Bhansali was the one who showed Kaushal the exit door because apparently, the actor would not be able to do justice to the role of a king.

When Vicky was quizzed about this, the actor retorted by saying that he does not want to talk about Padmavati, since he is busy shooting for his next film, Manmarziyaan. Well, we don’t know which of the speculations hold truth. However, it is sad that a talented actor like Kaushal missed out on such a great opportunity.
