This Friday saw Rajinikanth starrer Kabali receive a phenomenal opening at cinema theatres, throughout the world. The blockbuster hit, which had already earned Rs 200 crore through its satellite and distribution rights even before the release, went on to collect a whopping amount of Rs 150 crore on just the first day of its release! Well, that’s the star power of the one-and-only Thailava Rajinikanth! Now, we hear that the movie is going to be remade in Hindi and this remake will star none other than the legend, Amitabh Bachchan!
Kabali was released in over 12000 screens worldwide, in a total of five languages, namely Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Malay. However, it was obviously most viewed in Tamil since the superstar hails from the Tamil movie industry. As a result, the Hindi dubbed version lost out on its share of attention. So, to make sure that the Hindi remake gets an equally thundering response as its original, Big B has been roped in to play the titular role of Kabaliswaran.
According to a source, the reason why Rajini’s dubbed films don’t do well is because his antics are very culture-specific. The flavor, culture and dialogues reek of the Tamil industry. Hence, the Hindi movie will be made keeping the target audience in mind. The makers wanted somebody who would be able to do justice to Rajini’s stature and who better than the Shahehshah himself. Bachchan’s style, fanbase and deep baritone voice are perfect for such a weighted role!
Interestingly, Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth have previously worked together in movies like Andha Kanoon, Giraftar and Hum. In fact, a number of big movies starring Bachchan have already been remade in Tamil with Rajini in the lead role. Senior Bachchan is also a self-confessed fan of the Tamil legend. Well, after Kabali receiving such a record-breaking response, it would be exciting to see how much the Bachchan starrer Hindi remake can gross.
