Karan Johar’s 2012 film, Student Of The Year, launched three new faces in Bollywood. Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, and Sidharth Malhotra made their dream debut under the direction of the ace filmmaker. The movie, which was set in a boarding school of Dehradun, was a runaway hit because of the fresh faces. 4 years later, Karan is finally set to make the much-anticipated sequel of SOTY. The second part of the series will star none other than the Heropanti actor, Tiger Shroff. However, Karan has passed on the director’s hat to Punit Malhotra, who has earlier directed movies like I Hate Luv Storys and Gori Tere Pyaar Mein.
Right since the first news of SOTY 2 was out, the media was speculating that Shahid Kapoor’s younger brother, Ishaan, and Saif Ali Khan’s daughter, Sara would be making their big debut with it. However, a few days back, speculations were rife that the head honcho of Dharma Productions had offered the lead role to Tiger Shroff. The actor, who is currently busy with his upcoming superhero flick, A Flying Jatt, had not said yes.

But finally, it’s official with Karan Johar confirming the news through Twitter. When the Baaghi star was quizzed about this recent development, he said that he was pleasantly surprised when he called for the screen test. Surely, his fans are also surprised by the fact that he has bagged the role.
Just like the earlier film, this one too could be a movie with an ensemble cast. However, no one apart from Tiger has been finalized yet, including the leading lady opposite him. The stars of the first SOTY outing, Alia, Varun, and Sidharth, who are currently on their Dream Team tour, took to Twitter to wish best of luck to the team of SOTY 2. By their tweets, we can easily make out that they are glad that Tiger is going to take the franchise forward.
