After the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dilwale, director Rohit Shetty is currently in news because of the recent release of his much-hyped advertisement. The ad for Ching’s noodles, which stars Ranveer Singh and Tamannah Bhatia in lead roles, has been made on a rather large scale. However, the Singham director has recently given an official statement saying that his next directorial venture, which is the official remake of Ram Lakhan, has been put on hold.
Ram Lakhan In Hold For Lead Actors
Filmmaker and head of Dharma Productions, Karan Johar had announced in 2014 that he will be collaborating with Rohit Shetty for the much-awaited remake of Ram Lakhan, which starred Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff in the iconic roles. Hence, the movie has been creating buzz since a very long time. The original movie, which was directed by Subhash Ghai and had released in 1989, was a major crowd-puller.
However, we now hear that the project has been put on hold because the makers are unable to find the perfect actor for the role of Ram. When Rohit Shetty was quizzed about this recently, he said that he was supposed to begin with the remake after Dilwale but he is still unable to decide on his Ram. Hence, he thought of moving ahead with Golmaal 4 in the meantime, which is looking forward to a Diwali release in 2017.
Quite a number of big names have been considered for the film, including Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, and Varun Dhawan. Rohit also said that whoever he has approached for the character of Lakhan, has wanted the film to be a solo hero film. The director also pointed out at the fact that the film has not been shelved. The script is ready and the makers are just keeping it as a reserve for the time-being.
Only time will tell which two actors step into the shoes of Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff.
