Railway Ministry has recently announced the Price list for Meals, Water bottle, Snacks, Coffee and Tea in the Mail and express trains. The Rate card has been posted on its official Twitter account. Moreover, users can directly use the Railway Ministry Twitter account to raise a complain if they are overcharged or poor Food quality.
On many times, Indian Railways received the complaints from the passengers on social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp etc about their bad experience with Food quality and the higher price charged by the suppliers. IRCTC or Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation awards the contract to the vendor, who supplies the food in the train and on the station platform. Keeping this in view, Railway has issued a Rate Card for few basic food products such as Tea, Coffee, Veg Breakfast, NonVeg Breakfast and Water Bottle.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu revealed a new catering policy last month which allow bigger food chains and hotels to establish a food court on the station and ensure a good quality food distribution in the train as well under the Private-Public partnership (PPP) Model. However, IRCTC will take care the distribution part.
