After his last release Great Grand Masti, Riteish Deshmukh is now gearing up for his next release, Banjo. The movie, which stars Nargis Fakhri as the leading lady, revolves around the story of a street musician who plays the banjo. The musical film, directed by Marathi director Ravi Jadhav, is slated to release on the 23rd of September. In a recent conversation with the media, the Lai Bhari actor said that the movie is very close to his heart due to a lot of reasons.
Riteish Excited About Banjo; Movie Releases On 23rd September
Apparently, Riteish says that he had a lot of homework for such a multi-dimensional character. Though understanding banjo players are not tough, getting into the skin of this character required research. His friends would often play banjo at festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, which also helped him get a better grasp of the character.
Deshmukh went on to say that Ravi, who is the director of the movie, helped him a lot since he had already worked with banjo players. In fact, he was the one who helped him perfect the style of the lead character. They attended a lot of meetings and concerts to understand how the band works since Riteish’s character heads a band in the film.
The trailer of the film was recently released and it is a hit already. Riteish’s grungy look is being loved by the audiences. Even Nargis Fakhri looks convincing as a DJ from America who comes to India in search of new talent. However, the premise of the film is being compared to that of Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar. Since both are music-based films, comparisons are being drawn between both the lead characters.
To this Riteish said that he is a huge admirer of Ranbir Kapoor but it would be absolutely unfair to compare both the films. They are extremely different characters so drawing a parallel between the two movies is nonsensical. It looks like the only common factor between the two movies is the leading lady!
