People across the nation have always risen up to the fact that apart from cricket, which is followed like a religion in the nation, most other sports are ignored by one and all. Rising to the same issue, today Hardeep Singh stated that the nation must start supporting the athletes in the journey to their success.

Hardeep Looses In The Greco-Roman Division

Hardeep is an Indian Greco-Roman wrestler. The wrestler, who did loose the very first match that he played in the 98 kg category in the men’s division yesterday, and thus got eliminated from the event at Rio Olympics stated this after the match. According to Hardeep Singh, there are too much cash flows and recognition of an athlete after he or she has won a medal in the events. However, the road to the medal must also get appreciation and recognition from the people of the nation.

The wrestler also represented India in this event for the first time after 2004. The wrestler in his interview also did comment that the SAI had helped him prepare for the Rio Olympics 2016.

Further enhancing on the plights of an Indian wrestler in this particular division, he stated that there was no Greco-Roman for him to pursue in the University level, so he had to shift to freestyle. The wrestler also repented saying that the only drawback that he has failed in his life is just that he had started late and this took a toll on him. He also stated that these days the new generation kids are starting it earlier.

Coming to whether the wrestler would continue to wrestle in this division in the next Olympic too, the wrestler replied that it would be just about his dedication and hard work and if he would be able to save himself from injury, he would love to get back to the court in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
