While there have been many names on the speculation list, but Yogi Adityanath is one of them whom not many would have projected as the next Chief Minister of the state, especially when there were names like Rajnath Singh in the frame. Also, not many know much about the life of the Yogi and his political connection.

Yogi Adityanath is 44 years old and his real name is Ajay Singh Bisht. He has been an MP from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh for the last five terms. This shows that he has been into politics from a very young age and he is also efficient in the same, that is the only reason that he has been able to get himself elected from the same constituency five consecutive times.

Adityanath runs a well-known Hindu Yuva Vahini which has been the reason of a few communal tensions in the area. Adityanath is a staunch Hindu follower and runs the legacy of Awaidhnath, who had won Gorakhpur thrice. According to his Lok Sabha profile, Yogi is a “religious missionary and social worker.”

It must be noted that Yogi is a sorted after leader in the state and is the second most sought after campaigner after Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It would be interesting to see, how good a choice Yogi would be for the particular post.

The oath-taking ceremony will take place on 19th of March 2017 at 2:15 in the afternoon.
