Modi Yet To Finalize On The Names Of The Chief Ministers Of Uttar Pradesh And Uttarakhand

After having won a historic battle in the state legislative election this time, the big question now lies in the selection of the Chief Minister of the various states that the parties have won. While on one hand, Goa has been settled with their ex-chief minister Manohar Parrikar, the top-notch leaders of BJP are yet to decide on the Chief Minister of UP.

While speculations have been around for quite some time now, but the top-notch leaders of the party are yet to finalize on a name. The party has decided to hold a meeting for the position on 16th of March. However, that surely doesn’t mean that the hunt for the best Chief Minister in the state is at a stand still. According to sources, the Prime Minister too is quite involved in the process and has recently got in touch with Krishna Gopal, the joint secretary of the RSS to discuss several names for the post in the state. President of the party, Amit Shah is also doing the rounds to get the perfect person to fill in the shoes of the Chief Minister post of Uttar Pradesh. Amit Shah had a meeting with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh for about an hour on Sunday. This has raised speculations of the vibrant Home Minister being one of the forerunners in the race to be the chief minister of the state.

Keshav Prasad Maurya and Manoj Sinha, the State BJP chief and Union Minister for Telecommunications respectively are also considered among the forerunners for the post.

Talking about the Uttarakhand, where the party has emerged as a winner, the Chief Minister candidate is again yet to be announced. Talking about the delay in the same, a leader of the party said that the time before Holi is not considered one of the most auspicious times to make such big announcements according to the Hindu calendar.
